I need to be me

Why does life come at us so fast? I never have a minute to breathe or rest or save or go or learn or work or run or think or love like I need to. I need to be a deeper person. I need to have more experiences. I need to be continually bettering myself through reading and learning about the things I'm passionate about. I need to show those that I love how much they mean to me. I need to be the best in my job. I need to run a marathon. I need to be a role model. I need to be financially responsible. I need to give praise to the Lord for everything that I am and know and do. I need to have more faith. I need to be the me I want to be and the me that only I can see.
I'm the only one that can change any of these things. What can I cut out? What friendships do I say goodbye to? What free time activities do I need to eiminate? How can I be more conscious of how I spend my time? How do I add more hours to the day? How do I be me?

Where did all these thoughts come from? All your travelling time? I think you have asked some very important questions. Who loves that God sometimes takes a while to answer them?
In other conversations--you are on my hang-out list as soon as I get through this weekend! How late do you plan on working this week--specifically Monday or Thursday? If you will get home before 6:30 Monday, maybe we can get some Eatzi's for dinner and hang at your place for a while. Or, you can come over to my place Thursday and I will cook you dinner! Quite the offer! I'll call you this afternoon if I get the chance to discuss...
love ya!

All the things you speak of when saying "I need to" this or that already seems to me something you do in your everyday life. I understand not quite pushing the plate away when it's already full but you're learning all the time or you're not living. From this list, i can make my own about you: Melissa is continually bettering herself? check. showing others how much they mean to her? um. check. Giving praise to the Lord? pretty sure a big, fat check. Being a people pleaser who is compassionate towards others and simply passionate about several other interests/hobbies/etc isn't a bad thing. Maybe you are being you because you like all of those things and you like being in the mix. Maybe this blog shouldn't be "I need to be me" (who we all love by the way) but rather, "How can I make time for me?" maybe you just need a time to chill-ax and recharge the batteries. Not to throw a vaughnism in there : )
So there you have it. my two cents and i love love love you mucho max-o.
