Sorry for the recent vacation from my blog. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately...and since I can't do too many deep activities at one time I must separate the deep thinking from the deep blogging. Life sure has been fast lately hasn't it? Where did March and April go? I think I did a lot of wedding shower traveling and running but I can't really remember many specific dates or happenings...it's kind of just a blur. Add that to the fact that my room is OOC (yes Lisa that's for you) and I feel like my life is spinning and spinning farther from my grasp. Funny isn't it that something as small as having a clean and tidy room will make me feel like my life has regained some semblance of order. Add that to my list o' quirks. Other random life updates: Life is good. God is great!
OK, enough about cleaning, back to the deep thoughts. So it seems that I may be changing. Some may use the word maturing but I choose not to get ahead of myself. I'm changing in that I've been reorganizing my priorities and realizing how ridiculous I really am. For a million examples of why people like myself are ridiculous see either the "stuff white people like" or "stuff christians like" links to the right. Both blogs are hilarious but poignantly true. How can we ever take ourselves seriously when these are the legacies we are leaving? I've decided to quit taking myself so seriously. Of course I want to be about serious things and making serious changes and at the end of the day these are things that matter. The things that don't matter are the cluttery things of our culture. The trappings that I love and hate at the same time. So as I shed my seriousness and pursue my refreshed priorities I hope to make subtle changes. I'm almost 100% sure that this won't make sense to anyone else but it is exciting for me to talk about and mull over.

mere musings

Melissa,
You know, it funny how you wrote many things in your last posting that seem to be very vague and were not specifically focused on any point. However, I agree with just about all that you mentioned. Espcially about focusing on the most important things. From talking with return peace corps volunteers, the sentiment that you described is very prevalent among the returning volunteers. Many volunteers begin to see Americans as people who, so easily, get caught up in the miniscule and unimportant aspects of life. I wish you could luck with your summer projects. Good luck and I hope to speak to you soon!
