What I'm Learning

I think I'm learning patience. I know I know, you'd think that I'd have some by now. I made it through 5 years of college (victory lap!), and internship, living in a busy European capital for six months (hello Madrid), work as an auditor, as well as the many trials of having Paul as a brother. However, this is not the case, I in fact have almost no patience when things either don't go my way or in my timeline (Lisa, it's ok to laugh). Here is what has happened at work over the past 24 hours:

• I got the news that I'm going to NYC for Thursday and Friday of this week (found out on Monday).
• Along with that news came a huge rush of work that had to be completed in preparation for our trip so I stayed at work until 10pm last night to make sure everything could get done and I could still fulfill my social commitments this week.
• I arrive at work this morning and we find out that the flights are astronomical (of course I'm not surprised, this is what happens when you try to fly into one of the busiest cities last minute - see sometimes planning CAN be a good thing) so we postpone the trip.
• Meanwhile I have already told my NYC friends that I'll be staying in the city on Friday night to hang out and emails are flying and plans are being made. They are all shuffling around their schedules last minute to accommodate me.
• Concurrently (but not necessarily related) I purchase a new phone online - a blackberry - which I am ridiculously excited about (like an elementary school kid on field trip day). Only to find out today that it is indefinitely on backorder. What? How can you sell me something that you don't actually have?

So in all of this God has shown me bit by bit that I am not actually in control *gasp*. Of course I'm going to continue planning and screwing things up but maybe little by little He'll finally win me over and I can be a spontaneous, care-free person.
